Tribecka The Story, How it all started…

As a young boy, James was living in Leicester UK, when he was 10 years old, his guardian took him to live in the big apple of New York City.

Here the hip area of New York, known as Tribeca, inspired him immensely. Its old industrial buildings, many now turned into residential loft space, cobblestone streets lined with trendy boutiques and restaurants, and the historic commercial buildings, James was also taken by the fantastic Tribeca Film Festival, which takes place every spring, as he himself has a passion for film.

The big idea…

In 2000, Tribecka Group was born, the ‘k’ being added to distinguish the brand.

I first had the idea of the name from the district in New York which was run down for years, and the first regeneration of a district in New York which was a tremendous success.
The Tribeca name comes from the native American Indians and means ‘the river that flows beneath the lands’ – An underground river that runs into the Hudson Bay.

James founded Tribecka Group on a shoestring, from a small dwelling by carefully analysing the markets and search patterns of the Internet.
